Milkcrates&Microphones is back with episode 12 and In This Week In Hip Hop (TWIHH) November 9, 1993 A Tribe Called Quest released Midnight Marauders their third studio album. As we quickly learn, that wasn't the only classic album released around this time( WU Tang released Enter the Wu Tang(36 chambers). This sends us into the very undebatable fact that hip hop music has continued to regress with no sign or evidence of an eventual come back, so......we listen to X-Raided's new song "My Second Home" and matt gives us his honest opinion and we talk about our expectations of Raided's future music. You will also hear audio from "Secrets of a Mafia Hitman" an interview with a mask man named Joey. In our Local Artist Spotlight we take a listen to the Stockton based duo of Erupt & Deok. We check out the title track off their new record "Longevity". We also take a deep dive into the Battle rap scene past and present and if we like the modern format of pr-written promoted battles or the freestyle tournaments from the past. This sends us down a Mac Lethal path and we listen to one of his battles and songs.Plus the usual freestyles, song picks of the week, what grinds Matt's gears and is the podcast worthy of public access television?

Its Halloween time so episode 11 of Milkcrates&Microphones goes in on that subject, but first we start off with This Week In Hip Hop (TWIHH), a discuss the beef between Dr.Dre and Eazy E. October 19, 1993 Eazy released "It's On (Dr.Dre) 187um Killa" and on that record was "Real Muthaphuckkin G's", a diss track aimed at DR.Dre and his protege Snoop Dogg. We listen to dre day and the find some interesting lyrics in real muthaphuckkin G's. Then the show gets halloween themed as we discuss what rappers would make good slashers and some slashers that might be good mumble rappers, rappers that people most commonly dress up as for halloween, can you say Flava Flav? We also go talk a little about our favorite halloween/horror movies, the movies that freaked us out the most when we were kids ( candy man, candy man, candy man) and the clever marketing of the Blairwitch Project. This brings up the topic of the difference between thriller/suspense vs horror movies and how they make you feel. As always we lace some freestyles, make our song picks (halloween inspired) and discuss some of our favorite hooks/chorus' from hip hop history. All this and a little bit more.

As promised Milkcrates&Microphones is back with episode 10. Infamous gets this historic episode kicked off with This Week In Hip Hop (TWIHH) October 12, 1999 Mos Def released his solo debut "Black On Both Sides", his first record with out BlackStarr partner Taleb Kweli. Then in true McMp fashion we spark a conversation about what rappers would make good superheroes and what superheroes we think might have skills on a mic. We do a top 3 movies from our childhood, some good and some that just don't hold up now days, and kevpro swoops one of bsicc's picks. Would Preston Waters really be able to afford all that with 1million dollars? These are the kinda hard hitting topics we debate on this world class podcast. In the first installment of our local artist spotlight we listen to the music of Northern Cali hip hop band Greyspace and lead vocalist/emcee Matt Lowe. Plus you get our NBA finals predictions, freestyles, what grinds Matt's gears and song picks.

Another week in the books and we're back to bring you Milkcrates&Microphones ep. 9 the "time machine episode". In This Week In Hip Hop (TWIHH) Nonsense gets cool, maybe even Cool As ICE? Well, on October 18, 1991 the movie "Cool As Ice" was released and forgotten about just as fast( scoring 7% on rotten tomatoes) but hey we didn't think it was that bad. Its defiantly no TMNT II The Secret of the Ooze, but who is, right? That takes us into talking about ghost writers("creative partners") in hip hop and how we feel bout it. Shaggy 2 Dope takes a shot at Fred Durst, and misses badly, which brings us to the highly debated question of Kid Rock or Limp Bizkit? Some UFC talk with an audio clip of the greatest post fight interview of all time and of course we go over the mayhem that went down after a great fight between Khabib and McGregor! Do you ever wonder what your favorite rappers would sound like with your favorite band behind them? No, well we do and we did. B teaches the guys how to say supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, backwards! Plus the normal Freestyle session and crossover song picks to wrap it all up.

We talk a little about NWA and then swerve off somewhere around talking about CB4 and listing to "Straight Outta Locash". X-Raided is out and living his best life we talk a little about that then listen to our favorite Raided songs. Everyone gives predictions for McGregor vs Khabib, and we talk about training and the dark places you have to go to get through some workouts. then Matt asks if anyone can get steroids.....for a "friend"! We take a listen to Tom Greens appearance on Sway, and we appreciate him actually freestyln'. So much so, we spit a freestyle and Logan joins Matt in almost crossing the line, actually he might of crossed it! song picks and so much more.

Then we take on the 5 questions of fury, which are a set of questions we will be asking future guests of the show. Then we learn about how to properly retire an American flag when its no longer a suitable representation of this fine country we call home. Should teachers be allowed to hit their students? Will X-Raided be releasing new music? Will it be good? Would you take Flakka for 10 million dollars? Is Bert & Ernie gay? This all new episode of Milkcrates&Microphones features Nick Conrad, a fisherman, freind and a man that likes to slump some bay area gangsta shit. We jump straight into the show with this week in hip hop (the debut of Fresh Prince of Bell Air) and we get sucked into the vortex that is Will Smith and the movies he's stared in, we pay trubute to 9/11 (this episode was recorded on 9/13) and that conversation sparks a debet over concpiracies. So in McMp fasion we create a Mt. Rushmore....of....conspiracies.As we shift to music, you know, the thing this things about, we play a few rounds of Who's Rhyme is it Anyway, what band would we pick to be the frontman for? We answer that question plus Matt tells us how he really feel's about Joe Rogan, B does DDP Yoga, we kick a freestyle and Infamous almost crosses the line, song picks and more.
